Pet Wellness Exams

In general, our beloved pets age faster than humans do, making annual wellness exams vital to maintaining your pet’s overall health. These yearly checkups play an important role in the early detection of disease and age-related changes in your pet, increasing the chances of successful treatment at a lower cost since animals often don’t show symptoms until a disease is in the advanced stages.

A wellness exam includes a thorough examination of the following areas:

  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Mouth & Teeth
  • Lymph Nodes
  • Heart
  • Lungs
  • Abdomen/internal organs by palpation
  • Circulation/pulses
  • Range of motion/overall joint health
  • Neurologic function
  • Skin & coat

During your pet’s exam, we will ask you about your pet’s health history, document any changes in age or weight since their last visit, and ask about any significant lifestyle, activity, or behavioral changes. The veterinarians will also check for early signs of disease and suggest diagnostic tests if needed. We may make recommendations on care and foods based on new information on diet and diseases that could affect your pet. Based on the information you provide and the results of the exam, we can tailor your pet’s immunization schedule to their individual needs based on age, health, and risk of exposure. Please contact the office with any questions you may have regarding which vaccines are appropriate for your pet.
